Our Beginnings
Independently owned and operated by the physicians who provide care, UrgentMED was founded in 2004 to meet a growing need for urgent medical services in the Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo area. As health care costs escalate and care-delivery models become increasingly complex, UrgentMED remains the same professional, efficient, and patient-centered medical facility it was when it opened nineteen years ago.
Our Philosophy
We believe that your own personal physician is the best person to take care of your health care needs. However, there are a variety of reasons why this may not be possible. Your physician might not be in the office today or might not have any more open appointment slots. You may have just moved to the area and not yet had a chance to find a new doctor. Or perhaps you’re one of the millions of Americans who is ordinarily healthy and simply doesn’t have a personal physician. No matter the reason, if a personal physician is not able to take care of your pressing health care need, UrgentMED is available to you.
Did you know that the word doctor derives from the Latin “docere” which means "to teach?" After spending time with one of our physicians, patients frequently express appreciation for what they’ve learned about their illness and why a particular treatment is recommended. Our doctors believe that knowledge should be shared and that educated patients recover faster and enjoy better health. We take care of one person at a time and were honored when a patient paused on the way out to say, “you know, I realize this is an urgent care facility, but it doesn’t feel like urgent care.” We invite you to feel that difference when you come to UrgentMED.
Our Services
Whether it feels like it or not, UrgentMED is staffed by urgent care specialists! Our physicians are board-certified in pediatrics, internal medicine and family medicine. Our nursing staff includes experienced RNs and LPNs who are professional and caring. We routinely evaluate many kinds of acute illness, including infections, as well as injuries such as cuts, scrapes, sprains and minor fractures. We also perform sports, DOT, and FAA Basic Med exams, as well as pre-operative physicals, with no advance notice. We have available a wide range of laboratory and x-ray options. If necessary, we will assist you in coordinating follow-up health care with your regular doctor, setting up referral to a subspecialist, admission to a hospital, or arranging transfer to an emergency room. If you wonder whether your symptoms are appropriate for our facility, call and ask. We'll be happy to advise you.
Our Goal
At UrgentMED we realize that acute medical conditions come up unexpectedly and at such times we trust we will be a convenient, efficient, and friendly medical resource for you. We also believe that health care is much too important to be driven solely by speed and convenience. Therefore, while most visits to UrgentMED are relatively quick, our goal is to first and foremost provide patients with quality medical care, ensuring that each receives the individualized attention his or her health concern requires.
